Modern Mother Goose-On The Loose # 863 (The Ones To Fill)

The dress shoes were always on hand-

Worn daily, by the businessman.

.

The boots were worn on a regular basis-

By the firemen in the truck, that one cannot miss.

.

The tennis shoes are worn by the teenager, at school-

The latest brand is always the golden rule.

.

On the beach, the sunbathers, may be still-

But, manage through the sand, wearing that sandal.

.

The flats are worn by the ladies who reject the ones that are high-

Look over there and you will see them go by.

.

On the stage, it is no news-

To see dancers sporting their dance shoes.

.

All of the above footwear have their roles to fill-

To be worn to do a task to not stand still.

.

There is one more item that is filled each and every year

by a special one-

The stocking hanging over the fireplace, yeah, Santa fills

that one, he gets the job done.

Modern Mother Goose-On The Loose # 415 (Goodfellows Toy Drive)

Back in 1911, it began-
Still going on today,
bearing a strong, generous,
hand.
.
A shoe-shine boy, who
would not participate
in a Christmas delight-
Through the generosity, of
others, felt a shining bright
light.
.
For Houston Chronicle, City
Editor, George Kepple, saw
the little boy’s plight-
And, set out immediately, to
set things right.
.
He passed a hat around, to
the Houston Chronicle reporters,
in order to collect money, for the
little boy-
Yes, indeed, and then they went
out and bought him a toy.
.
Goodfellows, is the name, that this became-
And, the lives of many children, since
then, has never again been the same.
.
A toy, for every single needy child-
A strong sentence, to put it mild.
.
Christmas is for children, and Goodfellows
ensures, that the statement stands true-
It’s up to everyone, to participate, in this
wonderful program, to do as we should,
naturally do.
.
Back in 1911, it began-
Still going on today,
bearing a strong, generous,
hand.

Modern Mother Goose-On The Loose # 857 (Red And Green On The Scene)

We knew that the colors red and green-

Would appear, on the holiday scene.

.

And, they have for they are everywhere-

On the streets, in that package wrapped with care.

.

In the stores, in the house-

Even worn on a pin, by the spouse.

.

Highlighted by elves-

Sported mighty, on the shelves.

.

At school, on the wall-

In the eatery, down the hall.

.

Children love the colors too-

Coloring pictures, through and through.

.

Highlighting the Christmas tree-

Shining on those bags used during

a holiday shopping spree.

.

We knew that the colors red and green-

Would appear on the holiday scene.

Modern Mother Goose-On The Loose # 862 (Santa Now And Way Back When)

I heard a noise-

Could it be the little girls and the little boys?

.

I knew that they had to be asleep-

I checked on them, there was not a peep.

.

I heard the noise again-

It reminded me of a noise, I had heard way

back when.

.

When I was a child, that same noise had come

into my head-

Probably Santa and his reindeer is what I had

said.

.

Of course, I quickly shut my eyes-

Did not look, did not want to give Santa a surprise.

.

So manybe as an adult, I can do the same-

To ignore that noise, and figure that Santa came.

.

Even though we tend to grow old-

The enlightenment, of children can still unfold.

.

As I closed my eyes, I knew that my dreams could

still come true-

Santa I’m going to sleep and you can do what it

is that you need to do.

.

I heard a noise-

Could it be the little girls and the little boys?

Modern Mother Goose-On The Loose # 860 (Santa’s Return Home)

After Santa’s worldwide roam-

He was tired, when he got home.

.

Mrs. Santa Claus just had to get-

For him, a cup of hot chocolate.

.

And, off one boot came-

The other one ending up the same.

.

It has been a good run this year-

Santa and the reindeer, fulfilled their

mission with much cheer.

.

Not a child was missed, as Santa had

planned-

A toy for each child, was delivered all

across the land.

.

Mrs. Claus figured that Santa could use

a warm bubble bath-

She saw his tired face, she did the math.

.

So she ran him one, and urged him

to get in-

Tired muscles, on an old man, need to

be pampered now and then.

.

The reindeer needed a good rest too-

Rudolph turned his nose off, as the

season was over and through.

.

But, the elves knew that their job was

not over for long-

After a short vacation, well, the new

toy building would come along.

.

For it takes the whole year, to make

enough toys-

For all the good girls and the good boys.

.

After Santa’s worldwide roam-

He was tired when he got home.

Modern Mother Goose-On The Loose # 859 (The Noisy Mouse)

On Christmas Eve, that regular quiet mouse-

Decided to make a lot of noise, throughout the house.

.

First he ran and chewed and caused a stir-

With that recently read newspaper.

.

And, then he decided to hunt, for the sugar bowl-

He knocked off the top, and ate heartily, as was his goal.

.

He then went into the bathroom, with all of that tissue, at hand-

He dragged it this way, and then he dragged it that way, nowhere

near the wastepaper can.

.

It was getting late, and he knew that Santa Claus was about to come-

But, first he had to try out his green thumb.

.

He dug into the huge plant, by the window-

And, then onto the window sill, he did go.

.

He heard bells, and other stuff, and he knew

that out of time, he had run-

To scurry, hurry, he needed to get things

cleaned up, for it quickly had to be done.

.

And, when he was finished he closed his

eyes-

Hoping that Santa Claus would leave him

something, like one big surprise.
