Modern Mother Goose-On The Loose # 201 (Every Single Holiday)

There was a lady-
Who happened to
celebrate every
holiday that might be.

She’d celebrate Halloween
and Thanksgiving, Kwanza,
and Christmas, of course-
She’d celebrate New Year’s
Eve in full force.

She’d celebrate Valentine’s
Day and the President one-
She’d celebrate St. Patricks’ Day,

Passover, Easter, and couldn’t
wait to get that Cinco De
Mayo celebrating done.

And of course the rest of
the year she’d celebrate
all of those other holidays
too-
Celebration for her lasted
the whole year through.

There was a lady-
Who happened to
celebrate every
holiday that might be.

Another Season At Hand (2006)

The getting ready for the holidays has just begun-
The preparation for the special day, is so much fun.

Lots of shopping won’t be missed-
As everyone crosses off the names on their list.

The decorations are going up, all over town-
Santa, here and there, will be seen visiting around.

Cars will be towing the Christmas trees on the hood-
Lots of wreaths will be decorating vehicles, as they should.

And the excitement for the kids, will begin when-
All of the finals are over, and the winter holidays begin.

No school for several weeks is an exciting thing to encompass-
The Christmas season is again upon us at last.

And as far as what all there will be plenty to do-
All one has to do is read their Houston Chronicle through and through.

Where the time went, who can tell-
But, since we love this time of the season, oh, well.

Another year has happened to pass by-
And here we are again singing, oh, you’d better not cry.

Enjoy the season, for it was meant to be an enjoyed, the whole season long-
Let’s pull out our old songbooks, and sing a holiday song.

Like Silent night, or Rocking Around The Christmas Tree-
What a wonderful holiday season it is gonna be.

Modern Mother Goose-On The Loose # 852 (That Old Fashioned Pie)

TO BE THANKFUL, THAT PREPARING THANKSGIVING DINNER IS EASIER TODAY-

THAN IT WAS A LONG TIME AGO, BACK IN THE DAY.

***

THE CORN COMES STRAIGHT, OUT OF THE CAN-

NO SCHUCKING HERE, NOT MUCH WORK, AT HAND.

***

THE TURKEY IS BOUGHT AT THE STORE-

HAVING TO GO OUT AND HUNT FOR IT, WELL, THAT IS NO MORE.

***

THE GREEN BEANS ARE HANDY TOO-

NOT PICKED OUT OF THE GARDEN, LIKE THE RELATIVES USED TO.

***

NO CRACKING AND PICKING THE PECAN-

COMING PRE-PICKED, THOSE DAYS ARE CERTAINLY GONE.

***

NO FLOUR TO PRESS AND UNFOLD-

FOR WE HAVE INSTANT BISCUIT, AND THE ROLL.

***

NO MORE TAKING A TURN-

THE BUTTER COMES IN STICKS, THERE IS NO MORE CHURN.

***

NO HIKING, IN THE WOODS, AMONG THE MOSS-

FOR WE USE JELLIED CRANBERRY SAUCE.

***

LIFE MAY BE EASIER, BUT, FOR ONE MORE TASTE, OF GREAT-GREAT-GREAT-GRANDMOTHER’S HOMEMADE PIE-

I’D LET THE EASY GO, AND GIVE THE ABOVE A TRY.
