There was a lady from January to December-
Who needed help to remember.

She had a hard time. with what
was in the backseat-
The art to focus, was just not
complete.

So she started looking around-
To see if remedies, could be
found.

An alarm, was a good idea to
remind-
Or to throw her purse, in the
back, was an idea of a different
kind.

A life so busy, and an answer
to her problem, had to be
solved-
So, that the act, of leaving the
baby in the car, could be
resolved.

Grandma’s face has changed-
Somehow or another it has
been re-arranged.

She used to have a lot of
wrinkles, and now they are
not there-
I don’t know where they went,
of them, her face is bare.

There is no way to stop from
getting old-
At least, that is what I’ve been
told.

I’d think that my Grandma was
young, until I see her neck-
Then, the counting, of the years,
I can better detect.

We’re told over and over again-
That looks do not matter, but,
then again.

Grandma’s face has changed-
Somehow or another it has

Modern Mother Goose-On The Loose # 1015 (To Travel Light)

I got ready, to go to the game-
And, figured I’d better clean out my purse,
for the rules were no longer the same.
.
First, out came the papers, that were stored-
The ones, I take care of, when I’m bored.
.
And, then I whittled the make-up down to one-
Figured, I had better apply, beforehand, before
out the door, I had to run.
.
The over the counter meds were next in line-
You know the itch and antibiotic creams, that keep me
out of a bind.
.
Along with the cough drops, and the toys that were
on hand-
For when the kids are around, my purse is where
they happen to land.
.
The toenail clippers, and the other stuff, I didn’t
realize that I had in tow-
After purse cleaning, and it was about empty, I was
ready to go.
.
And, then suddenly with horror, I realized that the
purse was not the correct size-
Have to swap that out too is what I must summize.
.
I got ready, to go to the game-
And, figured I’d better clean out my purse,
for the rules were no longer the same.

He must have taken a wrong turn-
And, the idea, of lost, caused much concern.

He landed on the New Zealand shore-
When he was spotted, he caused quite a roar.

For this far away, from home, it had been at
least 44 years-
Since an Emperor penguin, such as he, had
been spotted, but, it still brought cheers.

But, what to do with him, no one did not know-
Surely, nature taking its course, would be the
way to go.

Where he came from was dark 24 hours a day-
It just wasn’t natural for humans, to head that
way.
.
He had been eating sand, probably thinking it
was snow-
It would be several weeks before his hunger,
would once again grow.
.
In the meantime, the world is enjoying his
plight-
Perhaps one day, he will return on an
outgoing flight.

Antarctica, lost one of its own-
With the Emperor penguin, temporarily
being a special guest, via a New Zealand loan.
