He must have taken a wrong turn-
And, the idea, of lost, caused much concern.
.
He landed on the New Zealand shore-
When he was spotted, he caused quite a roar.
.
For this far away, from home, it had been at
least 44 years-
Since an Emperor penguin, such as he, had
been spotted, but, it still brought cheers.
.
But, what to do with him, no one did not know-
Surely, nature taking its course, would be the
way to go.
.
Where he came from was dark 24 hours a day-
It just wasn’t natural for humans, to head that
way.
.
He had been eating sand, probably thinking it
was snow-
It would be several weeks before his hunger,
would once again grow.
.
In the meantime, the world is enjoying his
plight-
Perhaps one day, he will return on an
outgoing flight.
.
Antarctica, lost one of its own-
With the Emperor penguin, temporarily
being a special guest, via a New Zealand loan.
.
He must have taken a wrong turn-
And, the idea, of lost, caused much concern.

As a rule-
It is a bit scary, on the first day of school.
.
Everything is brand new-
With new friends, to acrue.
.
New teachers and a new place-
Time to get comfortable, in this
unfamiliar place.
.
New school supplies, that must be put away-
For use later, on another day.
.
To grit one’s teeth, to make the day through-
To finally go home, and say a big whew.
.
For the second day will be A-ok-
We know where we’re going, because
we went through all of that on the first day.
.
As a rule-
It is a bit scary, on the first day of school.

The bridge had to be torn down-
For much wearing down had been found.
.
When the bridge was brand new-
For many years, much traffic it could acrue.
.
But, as time began to take its toll-
Action had to be taken that would be bold.
.
It had been repaired many times, but now
it required much more-
To demolish it, was in store.
.
A brand new bridge would now be conducted-
Over several months it would be constructed.
.
In the meantime, another route-
Would be taken by the bridge crossers
without a doubt.
.
The bridge had to be torn down-
For much wearing down had been found.

Modern Mother Goose-On The Loose # 539 (Where’s The Chocolate Milk?)

In the lunch line-
The chocolate milk, I could not find.
.
I looked here-
And, I looked there.
.
I took a big look-
Behind the head cook.
.
I took another look-
In every cranny and nook.
.
I looked under the table-
I looked everywhere that I was able.
.
I asked around-
And, a sad answer was found.
.
No more chocolate milk at school-
For it was a new golden rule.
.
Too much calorie-
Not good for you, not good for me.
.
In the lunch line-
The chocolate milk, I could not find.
