The peaches were on the tree-

Sooner or later, to arrive at the grocery,

with a lesser crop, to see.

And, thanks to Mother Nature, the

prices will be high-

But, unless you pay, how else can

you get by?

The cobbler has to be made, and that

ice cream too-

We’ll weather this storm, we’ll get through.

.

The jellies will be evenly spread-

With that favorite fruit, on the bread.

.

Straight out of the can, or eaten from the

tree-

Peaches are a part of our lives, as they are

quite tasty.

.

We have no say so regarding Mother Nature

for she is the one who has the control-

Leading us to pay for higher peach prices,

that will unfold.

.

He must have taken a wrong turn-
And, the idea, of lost, caused much concern.

He landed on the New Zealand shore-
When he was spotted, he caused quite a roar.

For this far away, from home, it had been at
least 44 years-
Since an Emperor penguin, such as he, had
been spotted, but, it still brought cheers.
.
But, what to do with him, no one did not know-
Surely, nature taking its course, would be the
way to go.
.
Where he came from was dark 24 hours a day-
It just wasn’t natural for humans, to head that
way.
.
He had been eating sand, probably thinking it
was snow-
It would be several weeks before his hunger,
would once again grow.
.
In the meantime, the world is enjoying his
plight-
Perhaps one day, he will return on an
outgoing flight.
.
Antarctica, lost one of its own-
With the Emperor penguin, temporarily
being a special guest, via a New Zealand loan.
.

Modern Mother Goose-On The Loose # 664 (Those Houseshoes)

There was an old woman who didn’t live in a shoe-

But, apparently wearing the house kind, was her

favorite thing to do.

.

She had many pairs that she would switch around-

So that no worn out spots would be found.

Every once in a while, she had to go out–

Leaving the idea to wear the houseshoes,

to take another route.

.

Other kind of shoes, she did own-

But, the love for them had never grown.

.

Not like the comfortable houseshoes,

that she wore around the house-

No one to deal with, just the retired

spouse.

.

So, on the days that she had to go

out, and take care of business-

She would wear the high heels or flats,

none the less.

.

But, as soon as she got home, she’d

kick them to the closet-

And, quickly for her houseshoes is what

she would get.

.
