Modern Mother Goose-On The Loose (Solitaire)

I can remember back in the old days, taking out the playing cards, to play Solitaire.

It was a fun and simple game that required nothing else but for the repetitive action

of laying out those cards.

There was no one to compete against except oneself. I usually kept a pad nearby, to

mark both the wins and the losses. For some reason or another, the loss column would be

always greater than the win column.

.

That loss column would feed the drive to play one more game. If I could play one more

game, then that would opt my chances, to putting, another mark in the winning column.

The cards I played with had many different designs, on the outside. Some strange looking,

some very pretty, and then there those of ones’ favorite TV character.

.

Of course, there were the days when someone else would be involved. We’d play Crazy 8 or

Battle. Both games could take plenty of time. It was called passing the time.

The one game that I never enjoyed playing was 52 pickup. Someone would ask, and the other

one would have to pick them off of the floor.

Nowadays, I still play the same old game, but I do not have to shuffle or lay out the cards. That

is done on the computer for me. There is still the same mental stimulation, but less is required

to keep the game going.

.

One thing that I’ve noticed though, is that the amount of winning games are still far less than the

losses. By hand or by computer, those losses still continue that drive, for that one more game.
