Modern Mother Goose-On The Loose # 855 (The Yearly Gathering)

I peaked into the window, only to see-

A Christmas gathering that included the entire family.

Grandma and Grandpa were sitting together looking sweet-

Aunt Violet, in the corner, with her dress pressed so neat.

.

Barbara and the children were at the piano singing a song-

Even Uncle Jerry could be heard singing along.

.

The cousins, Maurine and Kay Lynn, from far away, they came-

For without them there, things just wouldn’t have felt the same.

.

A tree was decorated and twinkling bright-

Many, many, presents, under the tree were in clear sight.

.

The table was set and when it was time to eat-

Every family member would properly take their respective seat.

.

It was a time to get together, a special time indeed-

With the birth of Jesus, taking a lead.

.

For also underneath the Christmas tree was a manger that stood out-

This family knew what the true meaning of Christmas was all about.

.

I peeked into the window, only to see-

A Christmas gathering that included the entire family

Modern Mother Goose-On The Loose # 797 (Stuff In The Attic)

I looked through the attic, and what did I see?

Oh, just a bunch, of old stuff, what else could there be?

.

An old water bill, from 50 years ago-

Gee, and the price appeared to be so low.

.

An old soda can, that was empty, as it could be-

I can remember the brand, but, it has been a long time, no see.

.

Old hats, that Grandma used to wear-

A closed trunk, to open, if I dare.

.

And, inside, it was hard to believe-

Grandma’s wedding dress, with satin sleeve.

.

Old newspapers, from the depression-

Worse, than today, you know the one.

.

And, as my adventure began to unfold-

I came across Grandpa’s fishing pole.

.

The one that his father made for him-

They were serious fishing folks, it was not

just a whim.

.

Other old receipts, and a picture or two-

I was about to gather more family history, before

I was over and through.

.

At first, I thought it would be just some old stuff,

that wouldn’t matter a bit-

But, it grew to be a lot more, as I sifted and

then I’d sit.

.

Stuff, from the past, can be  as important, as the new-

With facts to gather, and new details to acrue.

.

I looked through the attic, and what did I see?

Oh, just a bunch, of old stuff, what else could there be?

Modern Mother Goose-On The Loose # 220 (Independence)

Grandma didn’t want to stop
driving the car-
Even though she didn’t drive
very far.

Just a little trip to the store
and back-
Or to the hamburger place
to get a big mac.

And once a week to church
to pray-
Or to the park, on a sunny
day.

Yes, someone else could
take her, but she wanted
to stay independent-
To drive herself, wherever
she went.

Grandma didn’t want to
stop driving the car-
Even though she didn’t
drive very far.

Modern Mother Goose-On The Loose # 401 (Quality Hamburger Time)

There was a time when Grandma took
us, to visit the Golden Arch-
We’d line up inside the house, and out to
the car, in a straight line we’d happily march.
.
We’d get a little hamburger, french fries, and
a drink that was small-
It was delicious, fun, and convenient, for all.
.
And, then, of course, came Ronald McDonald, the
playground, and the Happy Meal-
All over America, for children, this all, became
a great big deal.
.
Before we ate, we always had to check our new
toy-
Making sure it was the right one, for a girl or a
boy.
.
My sister did not want a boy toy-
And if my brother got a doll, there
was no joy.
.

To swap at the counter, was always done-
If we happened not to get the right one.
.
And now things are changing, for if the Happy
Meals are not nutritious, as they should be-
No anticipated toy, will the children see.

Three Steps For Little Grandson To Brush Grandma’s Hair (2016)

1. See brush on patio.
2. Clean out hair.
3. Head towards Grandma.
==========================
And then suddenly the idea went to
mush-
For Grandma was not going to get
her hair done via the dog’s brush.

P. S. This actually happened to me today. (LOL)
