Modern Mother Goose-On The Loose # 828

The children ran out to play-

They were going to have a fun day.

.

It was sunny enough-

To do the really fun stuff.

.

Like climbing trees-

And, enjoying the breeze.

.

Searching for bugs, in the grass-

Collecting sme of them, in a jar glass.

.

Picking flowers, for mother, of course-

Just having fun, looking at the neighbor’s horse.

.

Realizing that one day, that this could not go on-

Gee, the summer had moved on, and it was about gone.

.

There would come a day when-

That thing called school, would once again begin.

The children ran out to play-

They were going to have a fun day.

Modern Mother Goose-On The Loose (Flowers Gone Flat)

THE SPRINGTIME CAME AND THE BULBS BEGAN TO SPROUT-

IT HAS HAPPENED FOR THE LAST 17 YEARS, SO I HAD NO DOUBT.

.

THAT THEY WOULD RETURN AS THEY HAVE EVERY SINGLE SPRING-

THE PURPLE BLOOMS AMONGST THE GREEN LEAVES, HAS BECOME A TRADITIONAL THING.

.

FIRST THE GREEN LEAVES COME UP AND THE BLOOMS FOLLOW BEHIND-

A LOVELY BUNCH OF FLOWERS IS WHAT I ALWAYS EVENTUALLY FIND.

.

BUT THIS YEAR WAS DIFFERENT FOR AS I SAW THEM STANDING TALL-

WHEN I GOT UP CLOSER, IT WASN’T THAT WAY AT ALL.

.

THE OUTER RING WAS ALL THAT STOOD STRAIGHT-

WHILE THE ONES IN THE MIDDLE DIDN’T LOOK ALL THAT GREAT.

.

IT LOOKED LIKE SOMEONE OR SOMETHING HAD LAID THEM FLAT-

I WAS AMAZED AT THE SITUATION AND THOUGHT, WELL, HOW ABOUT THAT.

.

AND THEN I REALIZED IT WAS MY DAUGHTER AND HER FRIENDS WHO HAD DONE THIS PARTICULAR ACT-

I COULD HAVE ASSUMED THAT A LITTLE COURTESY IS WHAT THEY LACKED.

.

I COULD HAVE GOTTEN UPSET AND THROWN A FIT-

BUT THEN I LOOKED AT THE SITUATION AGAIN FROM WHERE A CHILDS’ MIND SITS.

.

ONLY YOUNG ONCE THE LITTLE IDLE MINDS SAW SO MUCH FUN-

IN MAKING THIS AREA A PLAY PLACE IN THE SHADE AWAY FROM THE SUN.

.

A PLACE TO IMAGINE, A PLACE TO HIDE-

COULDN’T HAVE DONE IT BETTER MYSELF, HAD I TRIED.

.

MY DAUGHTER AND HER FRIENDS WILL GROW UP AND ONE DAY MOVE AWAY-

AND AT ANOTHER TIME ON ANOTHER SPRING DAY.

I’LL LOOK AT THE BLOOMS AND WISH SHE WERE STILL AROUND-

TO PLAY IN THE BLOOMS AGAIN AS IF THEY WERE ONCE AGAIN NEW FOUND.

.

THE CHILDREN GROW UP AND LOSE THE INNOCENCE OF IMAGINATION AT PLAY-

BUT I’LL STILL SEE THEM IN THE BLOOMS ON ANY GIVEN SPRING DAY.

.

THE SPRINGTIME CAME AND THE BULBS BEGAN TO SPROUT-

IT HAS HAPPENED FOR THE LAST 17 YEARS, SO I HAD NO DOUBT.

Modern Mother Goose-On The Loose # 590 (Going Green)

Trees filled the forest-
All the way through, at best.
.
Then they began to build-
The fate, of the forest was sealed.
.
Home after home came-
And then the forest was never again
the same.
.
Three trees stood, in the aftermath-
Alongside, was a well thought out path.
.
All went well, until someone wanted to
cut the three trees down-
And, then all, of a sudden, much protest
was found.
.
For the three trees tended, to beautify,
the neighborhood-
Standing, tall, as they should.
.
Suddenly, to go green-
Appeared on the scene.
.
Trees filled the forest-
All the way through, at best.

Modern Mother Goose-On The Loose # 1011 (Straight From The Heart)

The funeral was on-

To celebrate, the life, of the person, that was gone.

.

Many words were said-

From the heart, and many were read.

.

And, then from the back row came a few cousins or two-

To sing a couple, of songs, all the way through.

.

They weren’t famous, they weren’t on a show-

But, my oh my, the rhythm did flow.

.

To sing, from the heart, for the one now up above-

Pure winning here, no gimmicks, just pure love.

.

The funeral was on-

To celebrate, the life, of the person, that was gone.

Modern Mother Goose-On The Loose # 640 (Youth No Longer)

She woke up one day and she was old-

She didn’t how the years had gone by,

how they came to unfold.

.

When she was young time went slow,

But, the older she got, the faster it did go.

.

And, then all of a sudden the wrinkes came-

Her life never again was the same.

.

Sure she could smooth them out with the

latest stuff-

But, to truly acknowledge her age was

beginning to get rough.

.

To cover up the ordeal was plain deceit-

For to change her real age, would be

more of a feat.

.

She just had to settle in and realize that

her days of youth were gone-

But, she could still enjoy each day,

beginning at the break of dawn.

.

She woke up one day and she was old-

She didn’t know how the years had gone by,

how they came to unfold.

I Looked Out The Window And What DId I See? (2007)

  • I looked out the window and what did I see?
But a glimpse of a time, that used to be.
    .
The little white house was freshly painted and still wet-
The little flowers that were to surround the house, hadn’t been planted yet.
    .
The fig tree was only a little bitty sprout-
The iceman passed by the house and waved, while on his regular route.
    .
A young woman walked through the yard with her three little girls-
With her husband by her side, things were looking up in the world.
    .
A new home, on 1/2 an acre, for all five-
A brand new start, always makes one feel alive.
    .
A three room house with an outhouse to boot-
They would no longer wander, for they had finally found a place to root.
    .
The children played in the flower filled yard, and eventually grew up, and moved away-
The younger woman and her husband, grew older, day by day.
    .
The fig tree bloomed, and bore much fruit every year-
When the husband passed away, the old woman grieved, and shed many a tear.
    .
The paint on the house had taken a heavy beating, from the years of weather-
The frail old woman, one day, just didn’t get any better.
    .
The yard grew up and the house eventually had to be torn down-
All that was left, was the large fig tree filled with birds, making wonderful chirping sounds.
    .
As I looked out the window, I saw how it used to be-
The memories of my Great-Grandmother, in her fruit of life, in another century.
