Creative headgear, filled with surprises.

For a good cause, of course-
At the Easter Seals Hats Off to Mothers Luncheon,
they came in full force.

This was the season-
To wear a hat, for a good reason.

Modern Mother Goose-On The Loose # 953 (Fast Fun And Easy At The Grocery)

I went to the self checkout, because it was supposed to be fast, fun, and easy-

Of course, no human conversation did there happen to be.

.

I appreciate being a special customer, as the machine tells me so-

As long as we can get the job done, our relationship will continue to grow.

.

To first find the bar, and then take a swipe-

To then put the item, in the bag, without much hype.

.

I know to put it in the bag, as the machine keeps telling me so-

Remind me again, so that we can get on with this show.

.

And, thanks for the button, in case a bag will not be used-

Some items, such as gallons of milk, can be excused.

.

Yes, we’re finished now, and I’m about ready to pay-

With my choice, of payment, I’ll be on my way.

Back In The Day On Halloween Night (2014)

I remember the days when we’d go trick or treating. It was a time to dress up and go house to house, to get some candy, to fill up our bags.

We usually just put on stuff from around the house, and added a bit of Mama’s makeup. Or if we were lucky enough, someone in the family

would make us a costume.

.

I don’t remember ever speaking of the devil, per say. It was just a fun filled night. As soon as it got dark, we’d head off for our adventure.

A lot of the neighborhood would participate, and some houses would give us loads of candy, while others would give us a fright.

I can remember a gorilla coming from behind the bushes. Mr. Smith, down the street, had to have some fun too.

The most amazing thing back then was the popcorn balls that we ate. Quite a few people would make those, so we weren’t exactly sure

which house they’d come from.

.

Later on we evolved to the parents inspecting the candy, and then we could go to the local hospital, to have the candy x-rayed.

As an adult, I never could understand how that worked, but back in the day, that is just how it was. At the same time, we were always

told not to take candy, from a stranger, but on Halloween night, that thought went out the window.

Scary isn’t it? No costume required.

The children ran out to play-

They were going to have a fun day.

It was sunny enough-

To do the really fun stuff.

.

Like climbing trees-

And, enjoying the breeze.

.

Searching for bugs, in the grass-

Collecting sme of them, in a jar glass.

.

Picking flowers, for mother, of course-

Just having fun, looking at the neighbor’s horse.

.

Realizing that one day, that this could not go on-

Gee, the summer had moved on, and it was about gone.

.

There would come a day when-

That thing called school, would once again begin.

 

The children ran out to play-

Crossing the bridge was not fun-

For more work on it needed to be done.

.

It had endured years of strain-

And, crossing it as of late, had become a

great pain.

.

To fix it or not was the question-

As the time went by, and nothing was done.

.

You could see the rust from down below-

To hold one’s breath, over it to go.

.

Repairing the infrastructure, was on the list-

But, obviously the work order had been missed.

.

Crossing the bridge, was not fun-

For more work on it needed to be done.
