I saw the pumpkins in the field-

And I knew at once that their fate would be sealed.

For it was the fall season and they all had a job to do-

Just as soon as the harvesting season was over and through.

They would decorate a fall fair-

They would decorate a house with much care.

.

They would be just all over the place-

Both uncut, and those carved with a face.

.

And, then they would have one more job on hand-

Pies would be made out of them all across the land.
