Modern Mother Goose-On The Loose # 731 (Mardi Gras)

And, so Mardi Gras Day began-

With the Zulu parade, on hand.

.

A coconut, to retrieve-

Many beads, to wear on the sleeve.

.

Trinkets galore-

Up ahead, so much more.

.

The streets had been filled early-

Ladders, posted, in order, to better see.

.

Uptown, was the place, to be-

Hours and hours, of rolling floats

and marching bands, to see.

.

Rex came next, and the beads

came in mass-

To claim, to catch, to collect,

with each pass.

.

Such a colorful day-

The costumes in the parade,

and the crowd gathered, dressed

in their own individual way.

.

Elks Orleans, the next in line-

More surprises, and trinkets to find.

.

All thoughout the morning, one

had plenty, of room-

To store another treasured doubloon.

.

And, last but not least, the Crescent City

came to roll-

“Throw Me Something Mister”, all through

the morning, did unfold.

.

Hours and hours of Madri Gras fun-

For today, was the day, to get the

outrageous fun done.

.

The Mardi Gras Krewes-

Were out in full force, after paying their dues.

.

Lent begins tomorrow, and we’ll give

up, what we choose-

But, in the meantime, it is Mardi Gras

Day, with no holdbacks, to lose.

.

And, so Mardi Gras Day began-

With the Zulu parade, on hand.
