With flowers on the table-

To enjoy ourselves, as best as able.

The spoons as it were-

Did their job properly, during the stir.

The aroma was filling the air-

It smelled like we were at a coffee

bean fair.

Not one drop went to waste-

After the very first taste.

A time to relax, a time to settle

back-

A moment, to refresh, a moment

to get back on track.

It was time to take-

Most Mondays are the same-

We get up and play the after the weekend game.

.

The sun rises and the coffee is put on-

And then before we know it, it is time to be gone.

.

A ride to work with the freeway bunch-

Arriving at the office, working and then tending to lunch.

.

But for some reason, this Monday to be spent-

Felt  a bit changed, a bit different.

.

Could it be that it followed a  three or four day weekend?

Yes, I think that made it a bit harder, in which to attend.

.

The kitchen smelled good-

As every morning, as best as it could.

The coffee was brewing on the stove-

The blueberries had been picked from the grove.

The eggs had been gathered from the henhouse-

An early chore, for a busy spouse.

.

Of course, we know where the bacon came from-

Most folks know, but, maybe not some.

.

The cow had been milked and was on the table-

The pancake flour was mixed, as best as able.

.

Blueberry pancakes, eggs, bacon, and coffee-

A delicious breakfast this was gonna be.

.

But, wait, it’s time, for it is easy to smell when-

The biscuits were ready, to take out of the oven.

.

The kitchen smelled good-

As every morning, as best as it could.
