On Christmas Eve, that regular quiet mouse-
Decided to make a lot of noise, throughout the house.
.
First he ran and chewed and caused a stir-
With that recently read newspaper.
.
And, then he decided to hunt, for the sugar bowl-
He knocked off the top, and ate heartily, as was his goal.
.
He then went into the bathroom, with all of that tissue, at hand-
He dragged it this way, and then he dragged it that way, nowhere
near the wastepaper can.
.
It was getting late, and he knew that Santa Claus was about to come-
But, first he had to try out his green thumb.
.
He dug into the huge plant, by the window-
And, then onto the window sill, he did go.
.
He heard bells, and other stuff, and he knew
that out of time, he had run-
To scurry, hurry, he needed to get things
cleaned up, for it quickly had to be done.
.
And, when he was finished he closed his
eyes-
Hoping that Santa Claus would leave him
something, like one big surprise.
.
On Christmas Eve, that regular quiet mouse-
Decided to make a lot of noise, throughout the house.

The guest would shortly be, on his way-
He usually came on the same eve, the
very same day.
.
.
As a matter of fact, it was the 24th of
December-
A day he never forgot, he would always
remember.
.
.
For there were too many children waiting
on him-
He took his job serious, he never treated
it like a whim.
.
.
The elves at the North Pole, would pack
his bag-
The reindeer, including, Rudolph, did
not lag.
.
.
Up in the air, off they would go-
Through any rain, and certainly the snow.
.
.
And, when he arrived to his destination-
The next morning, would always be a
sensation.
.
.
Children all over the world, would be filled
with glee-
Because of the special guest, to be.
.
.
To head back to the North Pole, with
his empty sack-
Knowing that next year, once again
he’d be back.
.
.
The guest would shortly be, on his way-
He usually came on the same eve, the
very same day.

It was the night before Christmas, and all through the town-
Generosity and love had been found.
.
.
So many people had given, so that all would have some-
When the final Christmas night, would arrive and come.
.
.
So many happy children woke up to a surprise-
Little dolls, toy trucks, and clothes, that were the perfect size.
.
.
Their eyes twinkled as they unwrapped, one after another-
While looking out for the baby sister and brother.
.
.
A fine Christmas morning, generosity did bring-
Throughout a town, that had done, its thoughtful thing.
.
.
A time to be thankful and a time to remember the Baby
Jesus-
And, all of the kindness, that was an extra plus.
.
.
It was the night before Christmas, and all through the town-
Generosity and love had been found.
