Modern Mother Goose-On The Loose # 519 (A Welcome Visitor)

The Easter Bunny is coming soon-
And, yes, he will be singing his
springtime tune.
.
As little children are very strong-
In the art, of loving a simple song.
.
No band is needed, for he can sing
without-
For that is what the Easter Bunny is
all about.
.
Big people like a visit too-
Especially, in the chocolate department,
through and through.
.
Baskets and grass, are the regular
fare-
Prepared carefully, with much care.
.
The Easter Bunny is coming soon-
And, yes, he will be singing his
springtime tune.

The Easter Bunny is coming and will bring eggs and candy-

Included in a basket, that will come in handy.

Modern Mother Goose-On The Loose # 435 (Oh Fudge)

The Christmas fudge went first-
As soon as I saw it, I knew that I was cursed.

.
One piece after another-
The whole familiy, including the sister and the brother.
.
And, then we came to see-
The empty plate, that included the brownie.
.
Next went the candy-
One more piece, to eat, always came in handy.

.
And, as all of this was going on-
Not one piece, of the fruitcake, was gone.

.
A slice of leftover ham and turkey-
Was the next delight, to be.

.
Once more the fruitcake was out of touch-
For we knew that we didn’t like it very much.

.
After all of the other treats were done-
It looked like the fruitcake, alone, was the only one.

.
As we approached it, we began to shiver-
But, opted instead, to one small sliver.

.
And, before you knew it, we had eaten it all-
No one would admit it though, it wasn’t our call.

.
The next year as we ate a piece of fudge-
Away, from the fruitcake, we would not budge.

.
For it tasted pretty good even though it had a
bad reputation-
Like generations, before us, it is now a sensation.

.
The Christmas fudge went first-
As soon as I saw it, I knew that I was cursed.

Gonna Try It-Not On A Diet # 933

Looking to see-

That Christmas candy gumdrop tree.

Modern Mother Goose-On The Loose [G] Halloween Night

The moon was full, and the kids were out-

They had mapped out their Halloween map.

.

They went to see Mrs. Smith, who made the

popcorn ball-

She made plenty, she made enough for all.

.

Then off to Mr. Chester’s, who gave candy

corn-

And in addition, he blew real loud his

homemade boat horn.

.

Mrs. Garcia always had chocolate to boot-

When we left her house, we had scored our loot.

.

Mrs. Johnson had a variety of candy-

To trick or treat, at her house was real handy.

.

The Halloween bags were getting full and a bit heavy-

Thank goodness, Mama was following along in that

old time Chevy.

.

To unload a bit, in the car-

Then once again, to travel far.

.

From this block, to that block, the kids went

door to door-

It was Halloween night, and every house turned

into a candy store.

.

The moon was full, and the kids were out-

They had mapped out their Halloween map.

Modern Mother Goose-On The Loose # 800 (The Candy Store)

To choose a candy, there are so many picks-

Depending on my mood, I may settle, for a Ferrero Rocher, or a Twix.

.

Perhaps, I will choose a Milky Way-

A Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup, on another day.

.

A Butterfingers comes to mind, when the sweet

tooth creeps-

On the other hand, so does a Peeps.

.

There comes that moment, when I wish, I wish-

To go on ahead, and bring out the Swedish Fish.

.

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized that Jelly Belly Beans-

Are not just for the younger set, not just for the teens.

.

Sour Patch Kids, are also part. of my style-

Until that moment, when Junior Mints are

enjoyed, for a while.

.

There comes the time, when I yearn for a Starburst-

Or into the middle, of a Snickers, I am fully immersed.

.

Twizzlers to chew, and Reese’s…

.

To choose a candy, there are so many picks-

Depending on my mood, I may settle, for a Ferrero Rocher, or a Twix.

Modern Mother Goose-On The Loose # 641 (Orange)

I saw orange when I walked into the store-

It lured me in, I wanted to see more.

.

Of course, it was orange, for a good reason-

For it was the Fall and Halloween season.

.

As a child I remembered the dress up times-

I remember the pumpkin rhymes.

.

I remember going to trick or treat-

I remember the neighbors, who did the

scary greet.

.

Each year there would be a new costume-

Proudly hung up in my room.

.

A fairy, a queen, and once a princess-

I remember looking my very Halloween

best.

.

Memories to last for a special girl-

Like many others in this big wide world.

.

I saw orange when I walked into the store-

It lured me in, I wanted to see more.

Three Ways That Halloween Is Different Than It Used To Be (2008)

1. We ate popcorn balls that we picked up at a strangers house.

2. The use of an x-ray machine was to check for a broken bone.

3. We actually called the holiday, HALLOWEEN.

======================================================

Happy Halloween 2008-

To trick or treat, we can hardly wait.
