Modern Mother Goose-On The Loose (The End Of The Line For The Big Yellow School Bus)

The little girl first went to school-

To learn the golden rule.

.

And for her it was a must-

To ride that big yellow school bus.

.

Her Dad stood every day by her side-

For her safety, to make sure that she

caught her ride.

.

And when that big yellow school bus was on

it’s way back-

Of that time, her Dad always kept track.

.

For several years, he’d bring her scooter

down to the stop-

And as soon as she got off the bus, onto

it she would hop.

.

She wore her hair in pigtails, back in the

day-

And as she scooted, in the wind they

would sway.

.

Her Dad followed behind, as she went

on her way-

Gee, all of this seems like yesterday.

.

As the little girl got older, her Dad still

followed her and watched as she

got on the bus-

She may have been older, but safety

first was always a must.

.

And now here they are on the 13th year,

and all of this will shortly come to an end-

As the little girl is now a Senior, and no

more time on the big yellow school bus,

will she spend.

.

Dad took Moma’s place in this expedition-

For when the big yellow school bus came, Moma

was at work, and could not get this job done.

.

The bus stop was on a corner where you just never

knew who might be passing by-

It could be a nice neighbor, or someone with

bad thoughts, on the fly.

.

But Moma was never worried about the little

girl catching that bus-

Because Dad took over, as the situation

was a must.

.

The little girl first went to school-

To learn the golden rule.

Follow The Big Yellow School Bus (2015)

It happened twice this week. I’m just poking on down the road, when someone behind me, who is
in a hurry, revs up their engine, and at a high speed passes me up on the road. Now I must admit
that I am one that usually drives the speed limit, so I am considered a slow driver.

In this case though, it is quite different. In both cases the in a hurry drivers, after having to pass me up,
had to suddenly slam on their brakes, before they ran into the back of a big yellow school bus.

Yes, I was driving a bit slow, and yes I was at least two care lengths away. I always drive like that
when there is precious cargo ahead of me.

I hope that is the last time this happens. Surely, the drivers behind me must be able to see a BIG
yellow school bus up ahead of me. There is nothing blocking their view, except for the fact that
they are in a hurry, and need to pass at any cost.

Needless to say, in this story there is no following the yellow brick road. The ones who passed me
up had to slow down, and for many miles had to follow the big yellow school bus.

“Surely a must-
To watch out for the big yellow school bus.”
