The baby finally slept all night-
Everything in the house, felt so right.
.
At first, iit was not that way-
The feedings went on all night and day.
.
And, then suddenly, the feedings began
to stretch, hour by hour-
That extra sleep, began to flower.
.
It was meant to be that way unitl
a pattern was set-
Yes, very tired, parents do get.
.
But, to make it through, they always do-
When nightime patterns finally acrue.
.
The baby finally slept all night-
Everything in the house, felt so right.

We were worn-
After the baby was born.
.
And, the leisure sleep went away-
For the baby awoke, both night and day.
.
To be fed, to be changed, and to be rocked-
Had we known, our past sleep time, we might have stocked.
.
But, through it all we figured it was best-
Later, in life, there will be plenty, of time, to rest.
.
We were worn-
After the baby was born

I found the grandson, in my favorite spot-
He knows it’s where I like to relax a lot.
.
At 18 months, he learned it well-
So he figured out that he’d try it out,
by himself, for a spell.
.
He was sitting in my favorite chair-
Looking so grand, acting so fair.
.
With clicker in hand, and a snack too-
He was acting like Grandma, through and through.
.
We’ve spent many hours together, in that chair-
Watching tv, playing hand games, and checking out our hair.
.
I hope the grandson doesn’t get too comfortable, for as he
continues to grow-
That is Grandma’s spot, that he will have to learn and know.
.
I found the grandson, in my favorite spot-
He knows it’s where I like to relax a lot.

The family gathered around-
And much singing was found.
.
.
Mama played the piano-
All the Christmas songs, in
the room, had a Heavenly
flow.
.
.
Father had cut down the tree,
earlier in the day-
And, we decorated it in our
usual way.
.
.
Filled with candles, and of course,
the candy cane-
Not to take a bite, for the children,
was quite a pain.
.
.
There wasn’t anything, yet, under
the tree-
For in the morning, is when that
would all be.
.
.
Mama read The Night Before Christmas,
to one and all-
And, fast asleep, we did all fall.
.
.
To dream of the one who would come
to our house, in the night-
All was well, all felt so right.
.
.
And, in the morning when we were
awake-
Many sacks, for all the children, were
under the tree, for goodness sake.
.
.
Santa had brought us all apples, oranges,
and a bit of candy-
This Chirstmas morning, turned out to be
so dandy.
.
.
As an added surprise-
Mama had made some cranberry pies.
.
.
For us to eat after our Christmas church
service-
The Baby Jesus in His cradle, in the manger,
we would not miss.
.
.
As we later sat and ate some ham and turkey,
and of course, cranberry pie-
We knew we were lucky, for we had
managed the whole year, to get by.
.
.
We always had something to eat, and
we had our health-
We lived the good life, despite any
wealth.
.
.
For we had each other, to love and to
count on-
We knew this fact, whether it be sunset,
or dawn.
.
.
A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year,
is what we had-
To venture into the New Year, we were so
glad.
.
.
The family gathered around-
And much singing was found.
