The grape crop was ready
for harvest-
And was reined in by
special guests.

For in South Africa, no
one could keep the baboons
away-
Even with electric fencing,
noisemakers, and rubber
snakes, they still came by
the hundreds everyday.

To them the only proper
treat-
Was to eat the grapes that
were sweet.

For if they were sour, they’d
leave them behind-
For the poor grape growers
to scour through and find.

The grape crop was ready
for harvest-
And to rein them in, was
the famously uninvited
guests.
