There was a time when Grandma took
us, to visit the Golden Arch-
We’d line up inside the house, and out to
the car, in a straight line we’d happily march.
.
We’d get a little hamburger, french fries, and
a drink that was small-
It was delicious, fun, and convenient, for all.
.
And, then, of course, came Ronald McDonald, the
playground, and the Happy Meal-
All over America, for children, this all, became
a great big deal.
.
Before we ate, we always had to check our new
toy-
Making sure it was the right one, for a girl or a
boy.
.
My sister did not want a boy toy-
And if my brother got a doll, there
was no joy.
.
To swap at the counter, was always done-
If we happened not to get the right one.
.
And now things are changing, for if the Happy
Meals are not nutritious, as they should be-
No anticipated toy, will the children see.
.
There was a time when Grandma took
us, to visit the Golden Arch-
We’d line up inside the house, and out to
the car, in a straight line we’d happily march.
