We’ve all had our say-
About that lip sync, in the modern day.
.
Nothing new, as we are about to see-
For it happened back in the day, in many a movie.
.
Another voice was used for Margaret O’Brien-
While starring, in The Secret Garden.
.
And, yet there was another voice, to be-
When Natalie Wood sang in West Side Story.
.
Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend, is for sure-
But, Marilyn Monroe, needed a bit of help, on
the high notes, for the world to endure.
.
So did Deborah Kerr, in The King and I-
The art, to lip sync, was the tool, in order to get by.
.
Amongst many others, to also take their turn-
Was the star in My Fair Lady, Audrey Hepburn.
.
Of course, this was just the movies, and we could
not expect great acting, and bearable song-
So that is why Marni Nixon, was often brought along.
.
Her singing voice carried many an actress, so that they could
pass the test-
A nickname was given to her, The Ghostest with the
Mostest.
.
Thanks to her, we had both good acting, and
pleasant song-
Even if we didn’t realize that there was lip
sync involved, all along.
.
We’ve all had our say-
About that lip sync, in the modern day.

Well done – a much needed exposé that lends proportion to the recent controversies (even Harry Belafonte was dubbed in Porgy & Bess – go figure…)
