Pour me a cup of tea-
And, I’ll be as happy, as I can be.
.
Add, a little bit, of sugar and cream-
A tea lover’s ultimate dream.
.
Of course, back in the olden days-
The addition, of milk, cut both ways.
.
If you were affluent, you drank yours mostly straight-
And, if you weren’t then dilution with milk, was your date.
.
To stretch it as far as it would go-
Our love for tea still continues to grow.
.
Of course, a certain taste, has been acquired-
Give me all the additions, for I want to be truly wired.
.
If I were to win the lottery, it would be a welcome dream-
With still wants of that added cream.
.
Native American Indians, a “thousand” years ago-
Made a strong tea, 6 times stronger than our modern cup of joe.
.
Using toasted holly leaves and stems, near the present day,
State of Illinois-
It would make you sick, cleanse your soul, and then bring you
joy.
.
Dilution, of course, is the key-
To savoring that perfect cup of tea.
.
Pour me a cup of tea-
And, I’ll be as happy as I can be.
